Chinese Cultural Revolution

I picked the picture of Mao and all the kids. I picked this picture because it has a real strong connection to The Red Scarf Girl in many ways, like the picture shows Mao the person in the book leading the revolution. It connects to the book because through out the whole book all the children love Mao. They always take about how great he is and how he is changing China for the better. I would disagree with this but that isn't the assignment. It also connects because all the kids wanted to follow Mao and the picture shows Mao as almost like a role model figure to the children.

I'm College Bound pt 2

      I was disappointed to find out my GPA because i saw that it had dropped. My current GPA is 3.15 and my last one was 3.44. This really unsettled me because i really want to go to SDSU. I learned that I am not going to get into my college of my liking because my GPA is worse then before.
      I am going to try harder to bring up my GPA so i can get into SDSU. Hopefully I will be able to get into my top three schools by bringing up my GPA. I am going to go to office hours if they are available to me. If they are not then I am going to go to tutoring.                      

Internship Talk

           Most of the internships had to do with someone sitting down behind a computer. I am looking for an internship that is fun and not boring. Something that interests me like interning at a record label or something under the Music Producing/Recording field. I thing none of them painted a picture for me about the internship because to me they didn't have any relationship to the internship in my opinion.

Suheir Hammad & Marjane Satrapi on War pt 2

           The book defines revolution because Marjane is always standing up for her race. Shes saying just because some muslums did terroist acts doesn't mean all muslums are like that. She is trying to justify her race just like the poet. The poet is trying to get respect for the muslums all over. She just like Marjane is trying to show everyone that just cause some muslums attacked the USA doesnt mean that all of them are terriost. The poet is saying that people hope for the destruction of the muslum people when they didn't even do anything.

          "I will not hate for you or even hate you." these quotes from the poems struck me because she is saying she wont stoop down to there level. She wont even give them the time of day. "I will not kill for you or die for you." This struck me because she is saying she wont fight there battles. She will not give her life for them. "I will not forget where i come from." This struck me because not very many people remember where they come from and don't even know their families history.

          A similarity that really stood out was that at the end when the poet referred everything to smoke that reminded me of Marjane and how she always smoked. Rarely she wouldn't smoke. What struck me about the book and the poet is that they both talk about destruction. They talk about war and violence. They talk about bombs and smoking. They talk about a life of struggle.

Islamic Dress Code

Men and women have very strict dress code in the islamic culture.

The women have to wear the following

• A veil to cover their whole face and hid their hair. The only thing exposed is their hands feet and face. Nothing must show exept thoughs three things. the veil must be blank.
• Women can't wear what men wear.

The men have to wear the following

• Clothes may not be see through ether.
• Can't wear what women wear.
• Men can not wear garments below their ankles
• It shows good respect when you wear white clothing.

Street Art

1. Things I noticed were that not all artists had the ability to draw but that didn't stop them.They all had a passion for the art they were doing. All the art they were doing was "wrong" and illegally done. They all conveyed some sort of message in a creative way.
2. Things that amazed me about the artist's work was that no matter how big it was they got it up fast and neatly. Another thing that amazed me was how smart they are because they can find their way up a building that seems impossible to climb. I was amazed by how creative the artist's got. They though of the most creative and unthinkable ways to portray a message.
3. I honestly am not sure what the message they are trying to convey is. For the artists in the documentary I think it was more like it was just their passion and what they liked to do. Like they said in the documentary street art wasn't and never was about the money. It's just something the enjoyed doing and still enjoy doing today.

Political Cartoon

This  picture the government pointing a weapon at the people. The people are locked by a device on their head. Showing that they are under the control of the government. This picture means that the  government is really the ones who are above everyone no matter how equal people are. This relates to Harrison Bergeron because the handicaper general aka the government was in charge and above everyone in the equal world.

The Metamorphosis chapter 3

             He terned the main character into a bug to show how some people live life for a purpose and they are just ignored and taken for grantit. For example Gregor was working to pay off his fathers debt. When his father had enough money to pay of his own debt he didn't tell Gregor. I think this is because Gregor's father wanted lots of money. When he was turned into a bug he was mostly ignored by his father.
             I think he used a roch instead of a frog because he wanted to show how people were ignored. Just as roches are ignored in real life. Also because a roach is repulsive. He wanted to show how just because someone changes that they are atomaticlly judged. He wasn't tying to make the animal a frog so that it would be something people think is cute.         

"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 2

            The Samsa family harms their family by mis-understanding eachother. Like the father neglectes Gregor because he believes that the bug simply isn't Gregor. By neglecting Gregor his dad is harming him mentally. Another way they harmed eachother was the mother was trying to accept Gregor but she just couldn't show it like when she fainted. I think Gregor took that to the heart.             The Samsa family benefited from each other because they were understanding at one point or another. For example thoughs times they showed an undersanding for Gregor was when the sister tried to help him by feeding him. Even though at the begininng she slamed the door on him. Another example is when the mother didn't think it was the right thing to do when they were moving his furniture out of his room. Even though they didn't leave the funiture.

F, because they broke every rule. They broke the first on because they lacked communication with Gregor simply cause they asumed that he didn't understand him. They broke the second one because they lost all love for Gregor. They broke the third on because once they found out Gregor was a bug the sticking together bond was broken. They broke the forth one beause the mom didn't trust the sister when she told her not to turn around. The whole family didn't have faith in Gregor ever changing back.

"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 1

            I think some positive things about being an insect is that I don't have to care for anything in this world. All I have to care about is staying alive and enjoying my self. I could just worry about my self and won't have to deal with anything. I wouldn't have to deal with work. I won't have to deal with school. 

            I won't have to put up with annoying people. I wouldn't have to follow the rules or law. I would roam free without any boundaries. I could sleep for as long as I want. I would be so happy.  

Of Mice and Men pt 4

      There were many similar things in the book and movie and there where many different things, but lets start with the similar thing. One thing i noted was that both had a bush Lennie had to go to when he did something bad. Another thing was that Lennie killed Curley's wife and his puppy. A similarity is all the characters said the exact same thing as in the movie as they did in the book. Lennie was also as good of a worker in the movie as he was in the book.
      Some of the differences were that in the book it was more of a countryish feel and in the movie it was like a 1920's feel. Another difference is that in the book Lennie makes it to the bush and in the movie he can't find it. Lennie is also killed in a more respectable fashion. By this i mean in the book geroge struggles to pull the trigger hes shaking and tearing up. in the move he tears up a little stands up and blasts Lennies brains out. In conclusion I think the book and movie are similar and different at the same time.

Dear George,
                I think your decision to kill Lennie was a good but challenging decision to make. Even though it wasn't  a good thing you did when others here about it I think that that was the only way to help Lennie. I know he wasn't dying or nothing but it was better for you to do it instead of Curley. I think this because Curley would have just shot Lennie repeatedly like Curley said "Imma shoot the guts out of this big bastard my self." I think you sent Lennie to a better place and hes now with his aunt and hes probably tending some rabbits.
                I also think it was a bad idea because he was like your brother and even though his in a better place now nobody deserves to die that way. I could tell it was hard for you because  your hand was shaky when you were trying to steady it. The part I didn't like was that you didn't tell the other guys the truth. The thing that you did that got me was after you did it you stared at your hand like you didn't wanna believe what was going on. overall i think you did the right thing.

Of Mice and Men pt 2

i think Lennie doesn't want to be at the house because of Curley. I think this because Curley hates big people so he gives them hell. A quote to support this is "He hates big guys." This quote is on page 26.The quote "Sometimes Curley's in here," she explained. this quote is on page 30. This shows that she possibly has interests on george and lennie which will cause problems between thm and curley. I think this because Curley already seems like a bad guy and a really unreasonable guy. I think beacuse of this Curley is going to try to get George and Lennie kicked out. I believe that Curley is going to end up hurting George or Lennie.

Of Mice and Men

1) Lennie is dependent on george for many reasons. One of the reasons is that george watches out for him. Another reason is that Lennie is really forgetful and george reminds him of stuff. In my opinion george is like Lennie's mom.

2) He may not feel like he likes lennie but he has some sort of feelings for him. he probably feels like a brother to him in a way. Maybe he has sub conscious feelings towards lennie. In conclusion i think george loves lennie as family.

Speak Book Interview

Elijah de la Cruz's Interview:

Elijah thinks as Melinda grows the tree will go with her.

Elijah thinks it's the student because its their choose to do what ever they want so if they isolate them selfs then its all their fault.

Elijah thinks if her parents get involve in a positive way then the outlook should become positive but I'm not sure about her social status 

Elijah says it is very realistic but I hate drama which means I also hate the book.

I'm College Bound

My GPA is 3.44. It shocked me to find out my GPA because I never knew it could be so low. Overall I was dissapointed to find out my GPA. I learned that in order to get into SDSU I need to raise my GPA because right now i am below average. In order for my to attend UT at austin there is no GPA averages avalible but I'm sure you have to have a good GPA. The same goes for the University of Notre Dame. The nexr step I am going to take is I am going to office hours to bring up my grade and so can get my homework done and won't have any at home. I am going to bring up my grades before it is impossible to bring them up.

Sensory Writing

I was feeling anxious to find out what we were going to touch and scared at the same time. I was shaking in fear that Diana was plotting to burn our fingers off. I was as shaky as a raddle snakes tale. It was a relief to realize that she wasn't as evil as a bad guy in a movie. When I reached my hand in to the vase i got chills. It was as cold as ice. It was as slimy as a snail. It felt as if i was reaching into a jar f hair gel but instead of beardly putting my hand in to get some i stuck it in all the way. It stuck to my hand. It didn't feel sticky though. It was just stuck to my hand like if it were a part of me. It was the weirdest thing I've felt in my life.

Sound Is Art

It sounds like an on going ringing noise. It is like your in a fun house and they are playing a creepy song. It's making a sharp ringing noise. Its sounds like a distorted wind chime. A dinging noise going off simultaneously. Its got a nice mellow ring to it though. It's calming and creepy at the same time. It sounds like it belongs in a scary movie when the character is waling through a hall while everything is silent. It sounds like metal pipes banging against each other. It's not wild banging its more like a musical pattern. Its got a good vibe it sounds as if someone is banging a wind chime in a musical beat. It sounds demented. like a noise of metal pipes being banged. The noise of the pipes is being played backwards. Mexican WhiteBoy Pt 3

I can understand how Danny feels how he cant fit in. He likes to be to him self and I can relate to that. this is because I always feel like i don't fit in and I usually don't like talking or attracting people just like Danny but some how it just happens. Like Danny i have a habit. I turn all my feeling in to a poem, but not just any poem a rap. Music is my release from everything that is going on it helps me be less nervous or calm just like Danny digs his nails in to his skin for the same reasons. I also like Danny feel like i don't fit in because of the whole race thing. In my case it wasn't like Danny where when he is with Mexicans he feels white and when he's with white people he feels Mexican. In my case it's just around white people. It feels weird around all white people I don't know because I feel like they all got a problem with me because I'm Mexican.
